Jako režisér debutoval v roce 2013 celovečerním dokumentárním filmem 5 Pravidel. Film byl uveden na českých, ale i na mezinárodních festivalech, v Čechách (Finále Plzeň, 21. Filmové léto Hrčava-Jaworzyka) v Polsku (Lubuskie Film Summer Łagów a Solanin Film Festiwal), na Slovensku (Cinematik Piešťany a FEBIOFEST Bratislava). Kromě toho, že pořádá MFF 3Kino spolupracuje také s festivaly Filmového babí léto v Třinci a Solanin Film Festiwal.

V roce 2015 obdržel cenu Czech Press Photo v kategorii Online feature. 

Je reportérem-režisérem publicistického pořadu Reportéři ČT. Spolupracoval na publicistickém pořadu České televize Pološero. Dále se podílí na několika projektech, které jsou právě ve výrobě, například Paměť domů, Vyprávěj svůj příběh a povídkový film Ptáček prezidenta Putina. Pro National Geographic natáčí cestopisné reportáže. Natáčí reklamy. Jako filmový lektor se podílí na experimentálním projektu Aktivně do života, kde pracuje s mladými lidmi se syndromem ADHD. Na stejné téma má rozpracovaný časosběrný dokumentární film První třída. V letech 2008 a 2009 vytvořil soubor portrétních fotografií asi třiceti osobností českého disentu.

Tyto fotografie byly vystaveny v rámci projektu My jsme to nevzdali (Post Bellum) na venkovních panelech od Pražského hradu přes Kampu až po Václavské náměstí, následně byly vystaveny i během festivalu Jeden svět. Pro neziskovou organizaci Isida Amenti nafotil kampaň proti domácímu násilí Isida Amenti Tour (Praha, Brno, Olomouc, Ostrava, Bratislava). Fotografuje architekturu, módu a design pro tuzemské i zahraniční časopisy, např. pro National Geographic, MF Dnes, Instinkt, Týden, ForMen, Design Home, H.O.M.I.E., ELLE DECOR, Glanc. Vystavoval ve Fragnerově galerii v Praze či v Centru architektury ve Vídni.

Photographer, director, film lecturer, artistic director of the International Film Festival 3Kino. As a director, Vavřinec Menšl debuted by full-length documentary entitled 5 Rules. This movie was shown at both Czech and international festivals, for example in Czech Finále Plzeň, in Czech/Poland 21. Filmové babí léto (Hrčava-Jaworzynka), in Poland – Lubuskie Film Summer Łagów and Solanin Film Festiwal, in Slovakia – Cinematik Piešťany and Febiofest Bratislava and last in previous year in Hungary on Verzio Film Festival, where the film got a big success and caused really stimulating discussion. Menšl holds and leads International Film Festival 3Kino, cooperates with Filmové babí léto Film Festival in Třinec and Solanin Film Festiwal in Poland. He also is a reporter-director of public affairs Reporters of CT (Reportéři ČT). His professional biography further include cooperation on journalistic program of Czech Television Half-darkness (Pološero) or collaborating on several projects that are currently in production, such as Houses Memory (Paměť domů), Tell your story (Vyprávěj svůj příběh) and narrative film President Putin´s bird. Menšl is also doing short travelogue reports for National Geographic. He is an author of the few successfull commercials. Currently, as a film lecturer, he is involved in experimental project Active Life (Aktivně do života) where he works with young people who have ADHD syndrome. An observational documentary film entitled First Grade (První třída), which is based on this theme, is now in progress. During 2008–2009 he had created a set of portraits of about thirty persons within the project We Haven’t Given Up (My jsme to nevzdali). These photographs were exhibited at the outdoor panels from the Prague Castle through Kampa Island to Wenceslas Square and were exposed during the film event One World Festival (Jeden svět), too. Many photos he also took for a non-profit organization Isida Amanti and its against domestic violence campaign Isida Amenti Tour (Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Ostrava, Bratislava). His photographic themes are mostly architecture, fashion and design for domestic and international magazines such as National Geographic, MF Dnes, Instinct, Týden, ForMen, Design Home, H.O.M.I.E., ELLE DECOR or Glanc. His works have also been displayed in many galleries – most recently the Fragner Gallery in Prague and the Architecture Center in Vienna’s MuseumsQuarter. One of his most recent awards is the Czech Press Photo 2015 Online Feature category for a story about Bedřiška Synková, a woman whose face we could see on the Czechoslovak one crown coin.
